Citizens Advice Westminster is recruiting new Trustees to join our Board. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape our strategic direction and strengthen our work at the heart of Westminster’s most deprived communities.
We are looking for individuals who can bring specialist skills, experience, insight, and who will constructively challenge our approach.
We are seeking applicants with judgement, perspective, passion and a knowledge and understanding of our local community.
We are particularly looking for a new trustee with expertise and knowledge of equity, diversity and inclusion.
We are also looking for applicants with fundraising and stakeholder management.
We welcome applicants with lived experience of the issues our clients face, such as housing insecurity, debt, disability, discrimination, or navigating public services.
Equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) expertise
We are looking for Trustee(s) with professional EDI knowledge to help guide the Board on EDI best practice, policy, and compliance. Our EDI Trustee will:
- act as a champion for all aspects of EDI, helping to ensure our service delivery and policies are consistently focused on the most vulnerable clients
- support continuous improvement of inclusive and equitable organisational processes;
- provide constructive challenge to ensure decisions reflect our values;
- act as a Board lead on EDI matters.
Fundraising and stakeholder engagement experience
We are seeking Trustee(s) who understand charity fundraising and relationship-building across the voluntary, public, or corporate sectors. This will:
- help strengthen partnerships and community relationships;
- support our fundraising and income-generation efforts;
- provide insight into external engagement strategies;
- help ensure our work is visible and trusted across Westminster.
We are particularly keen to hear from candidates from the Global Majority, disabled and younger people, who are currently under-represented on our Board.
What you will contribute:
- Strategic leadership and oversight of Citizens Advice Westminster.
- Commitment to our values and the aims of the Citizens Advice service.
- Willingness to engage in constructive challenge and bring diverse perspectives.
- Your time including attendance at Board meetings and participation in sub-committees, where appropriate (mainly outside of working hours).
