A team from Citizens Advice Westminster made up of staff, volunteers, and their friends and family will be participating in the London Legal Walk on May 22. All funds raised will go directly to supporting the life-changing services that we provide free to the citizens of Westminster.

Citizens Advice Westminster provides the community with essential, free, independent, impartial and confidential advice, with the aid of our volunteers, staff and pro bono lawyers.

Last year Citizens Advice Westminster helped 12,549 individual clients to achieve £3.67m in financial outcomes on a variety of subjects, including welfare benefits, debt, housing employment, and consumer matters.

We are entirely reliant on donations and funding from charitable trusts and grants from Westminster Council and other agencies. But if we are going to continue to change lives and make a real difference to local residents, we need your support.

Help us to provide these vital resources!  Read some of our client stories:

LegalWalk17By the time Frank came to Citizens Advice Westminster for advice he was a desperate man, extremely worried he would lose his home and his children. His only income was his job seeker’s allowance and his landlord had served him with an eviction notice and a court hearing date had been arranged to decide whether he should be evicted for the rent arrears. As a result of our successful intervention Frank has informed us he can now move on with his life and is overjoyed with the outcome.

Mariejones was really worried that she would lose her home. She was embarrassed that the bailiffs came to her flat and wanted urgent help to resolve the situation. With our intervention, enforcement action was prevented, Mariejone’s goods were not removed and we saved her £2073.70. Mariejones was elated and very grateful for our intervention.

Theresa does not have any income of her own as she is unable to work due to various medical conditions and Care and Mobility needs. Her husband has a low paid job. The couple approached us for advice as to how they could increase their income and deal with their council tax debt. Theresa now gets her regular payments of the daily living component of personal independence payments(PIP) and has received a considerable lump sum of backdated PIP which she has used to pay off her council tax debt.

Help us to change the lives of more clients in Westminster!
