Help us reach our target for the London Legal Walk!
We are proud to be taking part in the London Legal Walk 2015 on May 18th, run by the London Legal Support Trust. Funds are raised to support free legal advice charities in London and the South East by walkers gaining sponsors and then many wonderful law firms, chambers and companies add to that with matched funding or donations.
We provide information and advice on a wide variety of subjects, including welfare benefits, debt, housing, employment, consumer matters, immigration & nationality, relationships & family, and taxes.
The past year has seen a total of 9,416 individual clients access our services; this is a 7% increase in comparison to the previous year. The past year has seen a 26% rise in the number of repeat callers to the bureau; a total of 37,693 contacts have been recorded with over half that number being face to face. This was an expected effect of the cuts to legal aid resulting in more clients turning to the CAB for advice on more complex legal matters. This increase in client numbers has also been matched by an increase in the number of issues they present; a total of 27,533 enquiries were recorded, in comparison to 25,981 in the previous year.
Last year, we helped our clients achieve £1.2m in financial outcomes, including new benefit claims, backdated claims, successful charitable payments, debts written off and foodbank referrals.
Don’t forget to tick the box to reclaim Gift Aid on your donation if you’re a UK tax payer. Virgin Money Giving will pass this on in full to charity, making your donation go even further.
Please forward this on to your family, friends and colleagues and spread the word. Please help us to achieve our target!
